School Starts Soon
I finally got the class I wanted. MLL 191 (The World of Language II) has been full since before I was able to sign up for classes. This morning, I went to check the availability (as I have been doing everyday for a while now) and! there was one spot. Someone had dropped the class, so I hurried over to Add/Drop classes and added it. I now have 19 credits though. I may have to drop either it or MLL 250 (Introduction to the French-Speaking World). But I'll decide after next week which I like better. Or if I'll keep the 19 credits, but that could be difficult.
Work is getting tiresome. I can't wait to go back to school. Work is always the same thing, over and over again. It's not a challenge, and I tend not to do my job as well as I could because I'm bored by it. I'm pondering looking into internships this soon. I'm sure I could hold out for another year or so, but I don't really want to.
~La Souris
P.S. Le Chat is at work. I'm inanely bored right now.

Flow: Melody (well, I put the Kanji before but now it's not showing so blah)
Because it is stuck in my head, I figured I'd post it:
kokoro no koe wa kimi ni todoiteiru ka na?
yureru omoi ga kogarashi ni mau
We got the music; Don't worry anymore
We got the music; We'll be together
I'll sing a song for you
You sing your song for me with all our melody
samui kono kisetsu ga kotoshi mo yattekita ne
"tsukihi no tatsu no ga honto hayaku natta"
hitori sou koboshi nagara konbini no kaerimichi
senaka marumete ieji wo isoideru
yuuyake someta sora marude omoide irou

You sing a song for me with all our melody...

The Random Facts I Promised
1. I was the only one in my family who never sucked my thumb/pacifier/blanket/etc. Yet I was the only one who ended up with crooked teeth.
2. I am the youngest of SEVEN. The oldest is in her 40s
3. I never had a real boyfriend until 10th grade.
4. I've been told I speak random languages in my sleep. Unfortunately, I never remember my dreams.
5. I apparently have a minor form of synesthaesia; I associate different types of people (and different countries, for some reason) with different colours.
6. I've delved in MANY languages, but the only one I speak anywhere near as fluently as I speak English is French.
5. I'm an articulate writer, but I am sometimes so shy face to face with people I don't know that I can't speak. I've always been terrified that that makes me come off as rude.
6. Before 11th grade, I was afraid to meet peoples' eyes, except people who are very close to me.
7. I can no longer fall asleep without speaking to Allen, or being in close proximity to him.
8. I want a chinchilla.
9. I hold grudges for a long time, but I rarely tell people when I am upset at them.
10. I used to be an EXTREMELY reclusive and private person. I still am, but to a lesser extent.
11. I am mildly agorophobic.
12. I write romantic stories. Usually about two men.
13. I mimic cats. When I was 3 I thought I was a cat. I never quite grew out of that.
14. I find it very difficult to trust people.
15. I try not to judge people but a lot of times I look at people and automatically assume what type of person they are. I'm usually right.
16. I have my license, but I'm scared to drive by myself.
17. I tend to feel more confident talking to people who are much older than me, than people who are near my age.
18. I used to think I would never make it out in the world on my own, because I was too timid to stand up for myself.
19. I nearly paralyzed my hand when I was 7. I have very little feeling between the thumb and forefinger of my left hand.
20. I'm ambidexterous. Not in the sense that I can write well with both hands (because I have sloppy handwriting with both), but some things (like writing and opening bottles) I do with my right hand, and others (like opening doors and hitting the spacebar - which most people do with their dominant hand) I do with my left.
21. My current fascination is learning songs in other languages. Lately, the only time I listen to songs in English is when I listen to the radio. I now know songs in Romanian, Finnish, French, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Chinese (Cantonese), Spanish, and German.
22. I have never broken a bone.
23. Losing 30 lbs. in 3.5 months is safe, right? (And, because it was mentioned elsewhere, I am afraid to break into a run on the treadmill).
24. I am physically incapable of winking. (I literally cannot close my right eye without closing my left. I can close my left without the right, but I can't do it quickly, so if I try to wink it just looks like I have something in my eye)
25. I have 20/15 vision in one eye, and somewhere between 20/60 and 20/70 with the other. On bad days, or if I'm sleepy, my eyes stop tracking together and only my left eye moves.
26. I pick up languages very quickly.
27. I, too, have never been to Chipotle.
28. I'm becoming sick of work, because my shy nature gets me in trouble there.
29. I may or may not have several mental disorders. They haven't diagnosed me with anything.
30. If I could go to school forever, I would.
First Entry
Well, I've decided to blog here, as I've gotten fed up with livejournal's downtime, fed up with Xanga's unorganized layout, and fed up with Myspace's popups and impersonal, monotone delivery, so...
Where to begin?
I go back to school in 6 days... back up. How rude of me.
I'm La Souris, better known as Lindsay. I live in a huge city but I like to keep mostly to myself. I'm between places right now - legal residence is my parents' home. Home is where I spend most of my time, with my love, Allen, to be referenced hereafter as Le Chat. (He would kill me if he knew I nicknamed him that.)
I'm 19 and at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, studying for my Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics. I work at Meadowbrook Aquatic and Fitness Center.
I go back to school in 6 days. Most people my age dread it, but I love school. I went through a period when I despised it but before and after that time I have loved it. With a passion. If I could just go to school forever, I would. I'm going into my fourth semester, and I'm loving every minute. I'm finally able to study something I love and that means so much to me.
So, there's a little about me so far. I'll be posting a note with random facts about me, so you can get to know me better. I am very shy in real life, so there is something freeing about expressing myself this way - where anyone can read it, but with no threat of... well, anything that comes with real life, really. Enjoy.
